100th Day of School:
We've been counting and keeping track of each school day, and the 100th day of school is approaching. On Wednesday, February 13th, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school in Kindergarten!
Valentine's Day:
We will be exchanging Valentine cards on Thursday, February 14th. Some instructions about the card exchange were sent home last week in a letter. If you have misplaced your copy or did not receive it, please let us know, and we will resend the note.
Dance-a-thon:
Our School Council will be hosting Nellie McClung’s third annual Valentine’s Day Dance-A-Thon on Friday, February 15, 2019! Students are encouraged to wear red, pink and white and come ready to dance and enjoy. The Dance-A-Thon is a school fundraiser that will help support the purchase of new technology for all grades, more outdoor equipment and tarmac painting for our students to enjoy during recess.
Envelopes to collect donations were sent home and are due back to school by Wednesday, February 13th. As an incentive for our students, there are many prizes to be won. Students will be given one ballot for every $5 they collect. They will choose which prize draws they wish to enter and place their ballots in those boxes. The ballot choices will take place on February 15th and the prizes will be awarded the same day.
Upcoming Trip:
On March 6th, the Kindergarten classes will be going to see the musical, BeanStock, at the City Playhouse Theatre:
BeanStock follows Jack, as
he trades in the family cow for a bag of magic beans. His groovy
adventure begins when he climbs a gigantic beanstalk, meets a jazz-loving giant and restores his family
fortune! 12 performers on stage, fantastic sets, costumes, and lighting
for a full-scale musical theatre experience.
A big thank you to all the parents who volunteered to accompany us on the trip! Unfortunately, we will only be able to have 4 parent volunteers accompany us. If you offered to volunteer on the trip, please look for a note next week.
We will be going to the theatre in the morning, and we should be back at school by lunchtime.
